This of particularly good for restaurants where the busier you appear the more people will come in!

3.) If you run an online business or an offline business with an online side to it as well then please make sure you have an email capture box on every page (The top right is the best place).

4.) If you run an online business join a forum relevant to your business and make regular and relevant posts, just making sure that you have a link to your email sign up page (often known as a squeeze page) in your forums signature. This is one of the best free ways of gaining email subscribers, but you need something such as free report to give away in order to get people to sign up.

5.) For an offline business if people are in a hurry they may not want to fill out their details due to time pressures, so have a bowl that they can put their business cards in. Also if you run a cafe/bar/restaurant and give people a card to fill in with their details make sure you give them a pen/pencil to do so. I think 90% of the places I see people handing out customer cards to fill in do not give them a pen! Hence an email capture is lost.

There are two ways to build your list regardless of your market niche, the first is to use pay per click advertising and spend a fortune building a list. The second way is to build your list for free.

I would advise against build a list with pay per click advertising such as Google AdWords. I have tried it before and the result was painfully expensive for very little return. I would only advise going down this route if you are a large company with a large marketing budget and need to build a list fast.

So I guess that you ideally want to build your list for free? Well it does take time and effort but I have found it to actually give better results in terms of people signing up to your email list, as with the free methods I will show you below you are focussing on getting targeted traffic. This will result in a lot more people signing up.

Here are my free tips: -

1.) Make sure you have the ability to capture peoples email details on every page. Pop ups that slide in from the side like those provided by AWeber.com that are fully customisable have been found to be the most effective way of getting people to sign up.

2.) Give people a good or ideally an outstanding reason to sign up. If your website just says "Please join our newsletter" and gives them no reason to then you will get very little if any people signing up to it at all. One of the best ways to get people to sign up is to offer a free report that is relevant to both them and you. This way when they do sign up you know you have a target focused subscriber.

3.) Run a monthly competition with a prize given away at random to your subscribers

Post in directories like EzineArticles, ISnare or IdeaMarketers, etc. In your resource box include a weblink to your email squeeze page.

(6) Create Videos

It's fairly simple to create some decent looking videos using free presentation, audio recording and screen capture software. By using OpenOffice (Impress is PowerPoint knockoff), CamStudio (a Free Screen Recording Software app) and Audacity (a Free Audio Editor and Recorder program) along with just a little bit of skill, you can produce a video that you can upload to YouTube. Always include your weblink in the starting and ending credits!

(7) Create Podcasts

Use Audacity (a Free Audio Editor and Recorder program) and cheap microphone (from the electronics store) to record 5-10 minute mini "talk radio shows". You can include background music or flashy sounds effects, but you must always include good information and mention at least 2 times the URL or web address of your squeeze page.

Some of these free list building techniques, granted may take some time to learn or implement but you can easily over time increase your subscriber base using these free list building tips.

They say if you are going to run a business you need to have targeted traffic.Well the time has come to put all the so called experts on their back.Give them a taste of there own medicine.For years ,I've heard you need more traffic to your website.With each and everytime they said that they gave me some highly saught out site that has a zillion links that,I can click on.To produce targeted traffic to my site.Which was good until you got tired of clicking and the traffic stopped.

Now I did'nt start this comment to steer anyone from using search engines because for all the Entrepreneus and Corporate America need them, especially when they have to spend Millions and Billions of dollars on Advertising and Web Promotion.So if you have alot of money and want to go this expensive route.By all means gettyup and go because this is not for you.This is for people who are tired of spending countless dollars on useless traffic that only drains your checking,savings and 401K.Christ where will it end?
